BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Kazakhstan and
Türkiye discussed ways to further strengthen their strategic
partnership.


This was announced by the press service of the Kazakh MFA,
following the meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Arman
Isagaliyev and Turkish Deputy Foreign Ministers Ayşe Berris Ekinci
and Musa Kulaklıkaya in Ankara.


According to the ministry, the meeting focused on opportunities
to expand bilateral cooperation across political, trade and
economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian areas. "The parties
exchanged views on the development of bilateral and multilateral
cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye, as well as on current
issues on the regional agenda, and identified specific steps to
implement the agreements reached at the highest and high levels,"
the statement of the ministry says.







The parties also identified practical steps to implement
agreements reached at the highest and high levels. Particular
attention was paid to cooperation within international platforms,
including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the
Organization of Turkic States.


Kazakhstan and Türkiye enjoy one of the closest partnerships in
Eurasia, rooted in shared Turkic heritage and early diplomatic
recognition. Türkiye was the first country to recognise
Kazakhstan’s independence in December 1991, with formal diplomatic
relations established on 2 March 1992. The relationship was
elevated to a strategic partnership in 2009 and further upgraded to
an enhanced (expanded) strategic partnership in 2022,
institutionalised through the High-Level Strategic Cooperation
Council. In May 2026, the two presidents signed a Declaration on
Eternal Friendship and Expanded Strategic Partnership, setting a
bilateral trade target of $15 billion. Turkish companies have
invested nearly $6 billion in Kazakhstan, and several thousand
Turkish-linked firms operate there, while cooperation spans energy,
transport and the Middle Corridor, defence industry, agriculture,
digital technologies, culture and education, as well as close
coordination within the Organisation of Turkic States and the
Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
